So this one finally arrived today. I bought in on the “plank owner” pre-order in February 2020. I know MKII gets a lot of hate for their long lead times, but this is pretty spectacular and I’m always really happy with their quality and fit and finish.

Wow! Really harkens back to the vintage Blancpain watches that shared the name.

I missed the beat on a watch I posted here before. It got sold on eBay before I got around to buying.

Looking again, I've found another for a song. It's a bit bashed up. Can anything be done with the gold-plated case?

Very nice! Any initial thoughts about the two?

I’ve had the Sting Ray for about a year and while I haven’t worn it all that much really, I do like it.

I’ve only been wearing the TR for one afternoon/evening but my initial impressions are all positive. I don’t have a micrometer to get good measurements but while they look similarly sized, the TR definitely sits a lot flatter on the wrist. I think the caseback is much flatter on the TR than the Sting Ray (I’ll have to look at them side-by-side from a few different angles). The TR is much more comfortable.

I’ll also add that the bezel action on the TR is some of the best I’ve had: turns easily but not worried about it turning accidentally, very crisp with next to no play.

The lume on the TR is also really good, as are all new MKII watches. Not as good as some of the modern Seikos, but better than my much higher priced Sinn watches.
