WatchedRecon is usually a good bet to find stuff on the second hand market.

A little dab of shoe polish will fix that. Use a q-tip to apply it.

haha.. still not to be nitpicking but the shroud going all the way around the bezel is a baby tuna thing
but a great looking watch nonetheless, especially in this blue and this strap!

I'm member of the vintage shoe thread and I decided that the fact that I don't have any nice vintage wristwatches is an abomination that I should solve. There's thousands on eBay, and I'm not sure where to start. There's no way I can afford a Rolex or an Omega.

So, where do I start? Is there a good gateway watch maker that is an excellent value? Bulova? Gruen? Elgin?

Edited to add: it started with this Accutron that I found in a box of miscellaneous jewelry that someone gave my wife. I polished the crystal and ordered a new battery but it didn't work; a local watchmaker looked at it and said that it would cost more to fix than it was worth.
