Yes, somewhat disappointing. In particular, I dislike the font on the main numerals and whose circular disposition. A pass for me.

Certainly, more attractive models will be released in the future.

The font choices were what turned me off as well. It seems a bit minimalistic or a slightly Bauhaus-inspired design which isn't really what I expect from them given their previous designs.

I’ve been wearing my 60th Anniversary Squale Sub-39 the past week or so.

I’ve had a few different Squale watches over the years (two or three iterations of the 50 Atmos/1521 and a Squalmatic) but this one has proven the only keeper. The quality has been great across the board and they all have had a style I like but this one just fits my wrist so comfortably.

I’ve never owned a Squale 2002 but I would like to try one out. Even though they’re big and clunky, I’ve always read that they wear a lot smaller than the dimensions would indicate thanks to the way the lugs are tucked under it, sort of like a Seiko Tuna.

Agreed.

FWIW, after your recent posts about Kurono I decided to join their mailing list and I received the email about this one this morning. I was excited to see what it would look like but was sort of let down when I saw it. Though I will say that the photo of it that you found and posted does look marginally better than the photo that was in the marketing email.

"Just in case you didn't notice the 24-hour ring on the dial, we also added a 24-hour bezel because you're too dumb to realize that this is a GMT. " - Probably someone at Kurono Tokyo.

I don't love syringe hands, but I like the first and third. The faux-tina of the second is unforgivable for me, though.

Some nice entries in the last few pages.
Going by the metric of “would I buy it?” there are soooo many that are ‘nearly but not quite there’ for me. There always seems to be some feature or detail that keeps it out of the “yes I would buy it” category! Don’t like the mixed indexes on the yema. Don’t like the four o clock crown on the shark. Not sure why a dive watch needs chrono subdials on the Crafter (nor ‘War And Peace’ on the dial!).

Don’t mean to piss on your cornflakes chaps, definitely some nice kit on display and I’m just expressing personal opinions so hope you’re happy with your purchases and they last a long time.

I can understand where you're coming from. I've seen a number of attractive watches in this thread. But, there are are few watches I see where their appearance attracts me enough to even in fantasy purchase them. Hell, probably 95% of the watches posted in that other obscenely expensive watch thread don't seem that attractive.

Yeah perhaps this is an aspect of the fact that there is just such a massive variety of styles in this thing we strap on our wrist with 12 indexes and two or more hands. We all have our preferences and the prerogative to not throw down the cash until we come across a variation that hits exactly all the points that we like. I still love the thread mind, and checking out all the combinations and permutations of that wide variety of options.
