I think your best bet would be some veg tanned belt blanks off eBay and some basic vintage tools (an awl would suffice). If you live in the States, you could try tandy stores, zack white and the likes for some tools and leather!

I suppose a veg tanned leather of 4~5oz would work best.

Thanks. It almost looked like the case was black/grey.

My Seiko 5 dress watch arrived:

@Sander: LOVE The seiko 5 / leather band combo! Might I ask where you picked up the band?

well, sport watch + leather band look is still strange to me, anyway.

like the watch and the band(seperated), though.

    wear it in good health.

It's made out of deer leather, the company is called Herzog. It really feels as least as good as it looks; nice, supple leather, great structure. I bought it from a shop here in Berlin; don't know where you can get it in the states.

fritzl, why do you think it's a sport watch? Because of the day&date? Because of the luminous markers? I agree that they all make the watch sportier, but in my book it's still a rather formal watch.

    That's not a sports watch.

I just ordered these 4 "beater" watches. I wanted some inexpensive watches to wear while I decide what kind of style I really prefer so I can make an educated purchase when I decide to shell out some real money. I figure if I can get a year or two out of these, I'll be happy.

I own a Seiko Spirit SCVS015 with the black face dial. I would LOVE to purchase the blue spark scvs013 (white face dial equivalent), but its discontinued!!

Cripes, talk about a PMW, those IK Colouring watches are thirty bucks! I'm suprised even the Chinese can do this.

I've owned a handful of those IK colouring watches and as you probably assume, they're pretty poor quality. My little brother loves them, but they die so regularly that I end up getting him a new one for each of his brithdays and Christmas.

Can be found here for ~$20 with free shipping (they have more than what I linked to below [brown "alligator" straps, white/black etc., just look around the site for a bit]:

I'll admit, they're pretty cool looking watches. Given the price, it's worth buying if only to play around with it.
