On what basis do you say that a sea-gull movement shouldn't last more than a few years?
Not quite - it's the Timex Weekender, which looks very similar and is about 1/4 the price.
Then that's the smart move for sure. I'm not a fan of how J Crew marked up a Timex watch so much.

I bought a Parnis off of ebay and it's a bit too big for my wrist. Never worn and still has plastic protecting cover. Easier to sell it here than return to Hong Kong. http://www.styleforum.net/t/273254/parnis-42mm-automatic-polished-white-dial-date
That looks really great; can you tell us how loud it ticks? I had a Timex once that was just obnoxiously loud.
Also, a lume shot would be greatly appreciated.
Lots of info on the Timex Weekender: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/timex-weekender-572768.html
to be honest i havent even worn it yet lol
here is a lume shot i did
Thanks a lot. Just ordered the watch. 22€ through amazon.com. The folks at watchuseek say that the ticking is noticeable when you're alone, so I guess it's as loud as the other Timex watch I have - which does bother me, but it just looks too good.

I've just taken delivery of a Uniform Wares 200 series. Never seen it in the flesh before ordering. I have to say i'm pretty impressed. It has a nice 'chunky' feel to it without feeling overly large and the quality is great.

You'll have to excuse the poor iPhone photographs. Below is an official one from the website which shows it off far better.
Here is my 1927 Bulova, Nickel plated (I think) case, champagne face, cobalt hands, and sweeping second hand. Please click on image for larger image and better detail.
^ simply stunning
I really like the vintage Bulovas. Nice, American made watches.
Depends on the movement. The more complicated Seagull movements, even ones such as the ST-19 movement used in the Seagull 1963, are known to have problems, and I had the misfortune of discovering this first hand.
The crystal face on my Parnis just spontaneously cracked.
