yeah, i'm aware of the Omega database. It's very handy.

Problem with fleaBay Omegas is many won't show you the case back inside or the movement where you can see the number. It's been a while since I was shopping for vintage Omegas (I learned all this the hard way, btw) but when I was, which was pre-crash I should say, $205 would not buy you a legit Seamaster. Heck, it probably wouldn't have even bought a Frankenwatch.

All that aside, I think sometimes over-focusing on the "legitimateness" of a watch is wasted energy. For $200, that's a handsome timepiece, and frankenwatch or not, it's a heckuva lot nicer and has a lot more character than a $200 quartz Fossil.

Do you know if there is anything similar for Seikos? I'm trying to ID the one above and am having a bit of difficulty.

I love that Omega, but it's very difficult to tell if it's real. Did you bring it to a reliable jeweler?

It' all legit. I had it checked out. It's all original as well. Tiny omega logo in the crystal. .591 caliber movement and a 14704 case. It's a '59 seamster. The only thing not original on it is the band. It didn't come with one.

My Parnis resurfaced the other day and has been seeing a lot of daylight with my navy.

Does Parnis make watches with a diameter less than 36MM?

Absolutely not. You'd be lucky to find a Parnis under 41mm

Whut he sed. They are all, as far as I can tell, 42 or 43mm. This may be the same size, just due to different measurers.

Too bad; they are gorgeous cheap watches, and many of them have Sea-Gull movements.

Anyone have any experience with Mondaine? Just stumbled upon them today and they seem pretty interesting.

The quartz come in under $200 but the automatics can probably be found for around $500.

Could anyone recommend me a place to get an aviator light brown or beige leather strap? I've tried searching online but everything I've found is in Europe, and I'm looking for suppliers inside the US.

Preferably something similar to this shade of brown:

Probably, that's about what they go for. If you like the roman one with the guilloche dial, it's also available from good stuffs for actually a little less.

I have the M182SK skeleton in the same casework as all these watches, it's my fave watch I have ever owned. Gawd, I'm such a plebe.
