Always liked the quintessential art deco mystique of the original Cartier Tank evoking to the interwar years of the roaring twenties, but never found anything close to my Platonic ideal. The higher end horological pieces are either a bit too big, too complicated or that their prices and maintenance would be out of my reach, even felt there is something ever so slightly off about the Seiko Tanks (SWR049 & SWR053), until I randomly came across this Casio Tank (LTP-V007L-B1) a few days ago and really loved the homage with Casio's own take to the spirit of the Cartier but with a seconds hand, which at least to me displays both the workings of the quartz and the passing of our times.

Earlier seikos without a second hand or date look better than the current models. Would look better without the ‘quartz’ label or logo.

Jules Jurgensen President, picked up for a couple bucks in a small town thrift. Needed a battery and a lug pin. Debating on replacing the crystal or just rocking it as is. You guys know of a way to buff out crystal scratches? Also, how would you recommend cleaning it up? View attachment 2307203 View attachment 2307205 View attachment 2307201 View attachment 2307207

A bit late with this advice, but instead of starting out with Polywatch (or similar polishing compound - I use a laughably cheap acryllic polish), begin with wet sanding. Go through grit 500 to 2000ish and remove all large scratches and then use the polishing compound which will easily remove the shallow scratches made by the sanding paper. I've restored much worse acryllic crystals than yours, it will be easily salvageble.

I don't bother with taping off the bezel, but dependant on your risk willingness you may feel otherwise.

Tell me more about this please? I can't read the text on it
Not sure why the pic was fuzzy when I posted it. It is a Baume et Mercier Hampton watch w small seconds and brown dial. It is nice but I'm selling this and a few other watches of mine soon on buying and selling.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
