I am looking for a polo supplier to get a clothing line off the ground.

I would not be apposed to a chinese supplier as that is where Brooks Brothers makes their garments and it is of good quality. Any suggestions on how to locate overseas connections would be appreciated.

Also, would it maybe be more cost effective to purchase the fabric wholesale and have the shirts assembled locally? I would imagine having the goods assembled near by with my oversight would allow for better QC. Trying to keep cost low without compromising quality. I would like some advice from anyone with experience in with type of endeavor.

You will need to go overseas and tease them out in person. That is the best way establish quality and reliability.

Personally, I would never buy and wear anything made in China for myself, I do know there are several quality clothing manufactures over there that can do good stuff and go super cheap.

Your best bet would be to source quality fabrics (Asia, Europe, etc.) and have a garment manufacture in NY do the cut/sew/tailor/finishing. Lots of places in NYC to use, but again, you will need to visit in person to get a feel for what they can and cannot do.

I have a family member that works in the industry.

Visible Pick Stitching on Lapels and Pockets

  • It’s a mark of quality and craftsmanship

  • I like it when it’s subtle

  • I don’t like visible stitching

  • Doesn’t matter to me
