I’m 46 (m), 6’4, 240 lbs, very built and Canadian. My go to brands are Ralph Lauren and Brooks Brothers. I find they look superb on me. My wife loves how they look on me. Even my 8 year old son said they look sophisticated. However it’s difficult to find those that fit a guy with my height and build any recommendations. What are you guys wearing?

If you're happy with the length of what you've got then I'm not sure whether it's worth suggesting any tall men's specialists or MTM options. Since you say you're very built I wonder whether specialists in athletic fits might be of any use, but since that's not at all my build I can't speak from personal experience.

That page has some of the absolute worst fits I have ever seen along with some really bad product suggestions. Do not fall for the companies that allegedly specialize in athletic fits. It's nothing but cheap synthetic fabrics and shrink-wrap fits. If you can't move without copious amounts of elastane, the clothing does not fit.

In the end, if you can't find brands that fit properly, go the MTM or bespoke route. Alternatively, have a look at LL Bean.

What do you mean when you say you have problems finding things that fit? Are the existing brands too tight? Too short?

I'm also 6'4, not quite as built though (slowly getting there). In general, you should look for classic, more relaxed fits. For short sleeve polos, I wear Casatlantic and Rubato - both brands are known to have quite classic, roomy fits (which, if you're 240lbs of muscle, should mean they fit "normal" on you). There's also Berg&Berg who makes a bit of a middle ground between classic and modern fits - roomier than most high street brands, but not as roomy as Casatlantic and Rubato.

Keep in mind, however, that Casatlantic and Rubato represent a different look than you're accustomed to: their tops are intended to be worn with higher waist, wider leg trousers. I personally think this look is very good for taller, more athletic people - it gives you a touch of the scholar-athlete, sporty but yet far more refined than todays synthetic stretch clothes. But it's different than most high street looks, and might look old fashioned to some people.

Also, these brands make clothes at a MUCH higher standard than Polo RL and Brooks, and they make smaller batches, which means that the price can be quite a lot higher (especially Rubato). All three brands I mentioned above do run seasonal sales (Berg&Berg is on sale half the year, Rubato and Casatlantic run much smaller, shorter sales), which can be a good chance to snag them (sadly, most summer sales are probably over now).

As a fellow tallish (6’2”) non-smallish (210 lbs) Canadian, I ordered a couple of LL Bean polos in medium tall this summer. The combination of tall length and vanity sizing worked very well for me, but the model I ordered was in a fabric that was a little heavy. Will try Sunspel next year.
