I still can't determine if the shoe is welted or stiched....were you able to tell? If so, can you give me a quick run down as to how you were able to make the determination?

Thx in advance.

It's welted with a hidden channel sole. You can tell because there is stitching present on the outside top of the sole edge, but no stitches visible inside the shoe.

Thanks for the review and update. Now I am really kicking myself for not picking up a pair from Grapevinehill. They had my size for only $102!!!. In black, but that is what I was looking for as I was wanting a black semi brogue to wear with suits at work.

Then I changed my mind after listening to all the financial crisis news and determining I didn't really need more shoes. Ridiculous - when does one not need more shoes?!!!

Is the stitch on the outside top of the sole edge actually stitch or it's just plastic molded to appear as stitch??? I seen that before.

It could be, but it's not. It's welted.

I was just polishing my pair & the sole has worn through to the stitches on a small area due to heavy use so it's confirmed.

Do they run large or small?

I have the Stantons, JL Vale, and CJ Weymouth all in UK 7.5E, and the Stantons run smaller than both of them.

How do the Italian-made Polo shoes run in size compared to C&J-made ones?

It seems to me that they run about 1/2 size smaller, but I thought I ought to get other folks' observations too.

I have only ever owned C&J Connaughts for a short period but I can tell you I am a solid 12.5D in the AE PA & the Stanton in size 13D US is a half size too big. So true to size/width.

They definitely run half a size smaller. How is everyone's pair holding up? Asked an RL SA about the make and gave the spiel about taking over a factory to gain more design ownership. Another SA said that they sourced it to several factories in italy.

I wish they ran a half size smaller. They're the only shoe I have to wear an extra sock on my small foot to reduce creasing. To the point that I'm considering buying the 12s that GVH has on ebay right now.

I have several C&J-made Polo shoes; I bought the Polo "Astor" boots (made in Italy) in the same size and they were 1/2 size too small.

I wonder if that is also the case with the "Stanton" and the newer crop of "Made in Italy" Polo shoes.

Here are mine after 6 months of beating on them (I got them from one of the first batches so they fit true to size, i.e. I am a true 12.5D & these are a 13D. Maybe I need to look into the later batch with E widths):
