I read on the forum that polo I is full cut but recently got a sc which was really slim with compared to other brands. Now i am thinking to get a suit but one size bigger. If polo I is really full cut than one size bigger may be large but if it goes slim then it will be fine. so polo I is really full cut or it's mostly slim fit. For a 40R suit should i expect the chest to be more than 42" ?

I could be wrong, but I recall reading that the Polo roman numeral system is based on the button and vent configuration. In any case, you definitely should NOT use it as a sizing system. For that you need actual measurements. Most folk on the forum (including myself) think you need about 2" room in the chest for a good fit (i.e. if your chest measures 40" you'll want a 42" chest measurement on the coat).

Like most makes, Polo has varied their sizing to follow trends. A sz 40 from the 80s or 90s (when drapier/bulkier fits were favored) will tend to fit like a 44 today.
