I'm betting there will be a better turnout for Toronto SF meetup #2 if you promise to wear that ensemble [IMG]

    That bad huh? [IMG]

Don't just judge the pics, I mean you can't see yourself pulling this off? There are many times when a polo is a little too casual and shirt tie and jacket would be overkill...

thats where the polo shirt + jacket come in.

Yesterday night for instance, had an old GF over for dinner. Polo and shorts, got a little chilly grillin', so i put on a jacket.

I literally saw a guy doing this once. Polo shirt, silk tie, ill-fitting khaki pants, and white tennis shoes. It was an early twenties Asian guy in a fairly rural, predominately white town, and he was with a group of older people from his office ordering a sandwich at Subway. I had only been a member here for about a month at the time and I remember thinking how ridiculous it looked.

I had to do this once in high school (very conservative dress code) when I ran out of shirts and needed to wear a tie to class. Felt like an asshole lol.

So who's going to admit they actually thought about trying this in front of the mirror to make sure it didn't actually look really cool?

Lol, seriously I just feel like I was anally raped (and not the good kind)

Our fraternity dress code for chapter meetings prescribed shirt and tie with a jacket. By senior year I had designed a uniform for myself of a polo shirt with a black bow tie and dinner jacket, shorts, and velvet monogrammed slippers. Braces if I had to make a speech which required them for effect. I never thought anyone would ever wear this outside the house. Good grief.

Use short sleeve button downs instead, not a polo. Polos are supposed to be like t-shirts for sport and leisure, not for dress up.

I did try this once actually. It was with a polo with no visible buttons up top and a pretty stiff collar. The tie I wore was about 0.25" thick. It looked alright, but certainly would not work with a RL Polo / Lacoste style.

It's not a stuffy rule for 50+ men.

It's not style and it looks like you're trying too hard.

    Don't do it.
