1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

Smedley shirts can be bought by the dozen on EBay. I've also found them at Filene's Basement when Filene's gets in stuff from Barney's.

i've been picking up flying pig polo's at the goodwill recently. (i had no idea they were called that though.) 3 so far, got the R-G-B triumvirate for ~$5 each. if i wore them all at the same time, they would be a $15 white polo. [IMG]

    faust,

ha on the R G B, and thrift stores are a good palce to get them; I think the vintage versions have better fit than the new ones. Without displaying my ignorance, I don't think they're universally called "flying pig polos," (never heard it before, myself, but I'm young) although that's not a bad name for them. I think the logo is a sheep suspended by a ribbon, and I think it's considerably older than BB, though I can't remember the specific provenance of the image. And the logo is usually gold. hence golden fleece.

well, the golden fleece itself is, of course, the object of quest by jason and the argonauts. not sure where the actual design of BB's logo came from, but here's a neat page about: The Insignia of the Golden Fleece Orders pretty sweet, huh. /andrew - not in any order

Ya know last year I came across the Orginal Penguin brand and thought it was a cool revival of the old golfing brand (i golf often in the summer) so I purchased 2 polos from the website. Now wouldn't ya know, 8-9 months later a shit load of Penguin merchandise shows up at my local Nordstrom in the god awful "The Rail" teenage boy section. Now whenever I wear it I feel like a character on The O.C.

Note: I am a teenager from the suburbs of Alaska.

I've been wearing polo shirts made by Polo and Lacoste for years now and there's no way I'm going to stop simply because hordes of people are doing the same. If the original poster finds that polos made by these manufacturers fit well and look good then why not wear them? Who cares what anyone else is doing?

I picked up a BB's Golden Fleece polo at the thrift shop today for $2.50. Paired with my recent J Press finds I'm in high prep.

My mistake - for some reason I've always thought it was a pig, but then again, I've never looked that closely nor purchased one.

i bet they feel great, and i would love to try one, except for that band at the waistline. that's a dealbreaker for me.

What's txshirts.com? I tried to go to the website, and I got an access if forbidden from your client message. I'm on my home computer, so this isn't my employer trying to keep me away from porn and gambling sites.

I had no idea that John Smedly (SP?) polos were so great, until I had heard them talked about on this forum a year or so ago. The reason I bring this up is this: About a year and a half ago, I was at a thrift store, and noticed that they had a large quantity (20-25) of NWT polo shirts, made in England. I tried them on, but the fit was not to my liking, so I passed them up. The brand? John Smedly. $2 each. I'm kicking myself for not picking those up when I had the chance, to resell on ebay. - VM: Smart shopper, but not a smart shopper in this case.

You've got to type in www.txshirts.com to access the main page. When typing in simply txshirts.com I had the same problem you did, but once I added the "www." before "txshirts.com" it worked like a charm.
