Hi Guys,

The majority of the shoes I personally wear are dark brown or chestnut. Therefore it fascinates me a little why I am always drawn by the opportunity to pick up lighter shades when looking to pass on.

Crockett and Jones use different terms: tan, mahogany, bracken and even occasionally beige.
Exactly how popular are the lighter shades in 2009 compared to the darker browns?

Dark brown, brown > lighter shades. Some of these colours e.g. bandaid/tan reminds me of the naked mole rat i.e. not a pretty sight. The mahogany however is actually quite decent.

I've got a couple of pairs of shoes that were referred to as "chestnut" by the manufacturers, but which could also be referred to as tan.

I really like them. They're not quite as versatile as my mid-brown and dark-brown shoes, but when I pair them with the right outfit (such as a pair of brown herringbone-weave trousers), they really "pop". I probably wear the colour once every couple of weeks.

I like tan shoes, but wear them mostly in the summer.

Hey Graham, were you ever able to check on the 12Es for me?
