You are not asking this in order to decide which one to buy, right? :nest:

I like the silk(bigger weave) better...though I can wear either set with the right outfit.
    Just personal preference...

I have a few of each and like them equally. But for the garza grossa fans, beware of getting pulls and loops. The garza finas are probably a bit more resistant to this.

If I were, I would be doing what every SF member already does, implicitly.
If you haven't noticed, there is a massive "groupthink" effect at SF.
They all hate/worshsip the same styles & brands, for the most part.
(eg: square toed shoes vs. longwings, baggy untucked shirts vs. slim fit, Gucci vs. RLPL, coat length, # of vents, center vent, 3 button vs. 2, low gorge, etc)

But, to answer your question, I prefer garza grossa.

I like the garza grossas better, but the pulls have been a problem. May try the finas for next order.

I guess it's SF groupthink, but this is a great example of how this forum helps people out. I was probably 75% "SF Approved" prior to finding the forum - meaning, I wasn't walking around looking like an idiot before I found SF. However, I had never heard of a Grenadine tie. I haven't purchased one yet, but am planning on it - something very useful that I have learned here.

Now the knit ones with the flat bottoms? I still can't see myself wearing one of those.

I got one last spring, on sale, 100% white silk. I get compliments on it everytime I wear it.

Yeah but the knit ones with the flat bottoms (sometimes called 'sock ties'?) aren't really grenadines at all, although it could be argued they aren't a whole lot different to the uninitiated. Grenadines offer classy sophistication and allow a solid tie to be worn but with the added subtle texture of the weave which takes it beyond shiny satin silk solids. Knit ties to me are a lot less formal. All IMO of course.

they're just a staple casual tie option in the English wardrobe, usu with country (Tattersall) shirts.
Great with Tweed or shawl collars
