Nah, I'm proud of it actually
I been lurking here for a many years ( back when European Interloper was posting, what happend to that guy anyway???) but joined a year ago. It was actually the GQ forum that brought me to this place.
Yes, just need to add one more bit of information, add my opinion on one more subject, clear up one small bit of misinformation...
And I sort of like my 1K + posts. I have to concede that even my most informative posts are not of the caliber, nor include the amount of detail that some of of the posts that A Harris and several other knowledgeable members of the forum have written. The only exception might have been my post on the various terms used by jeans companies and denim freaks.
I'm proud of my almost 960 posts.
I've been a long-time lurker, and I thought it was about time to post (given the huge increase in traffic since the Times article).
I just wanted to say that I have found the advice and discussions posted on this site to be extremely valuable, and I have learned a lot over the past year or so.
Even more impressive is the professional way in which most members conduct themselves. Â People disagree, but are almost always polite. Â It makes for a pleasant experience and I really enjoy my visits here.
I hope to post more in the future.
Hey, Gord, nice to see another familiar, er, face. Â I migrated over here quite a while ago, probably based on a mention by Hermes. Â It's as different here from the Men's Health forum as it is from the GQ forum from which I, like many others, ran screaming. Â Thanks again to "J" for starting this.
See, another post... and see the latest one I wrote in the "Are Designers Important" thread. I'm the Isaac Asimov of Styleforum.
Picked up on it after reading the NT Times article in the week.
I found this site through the NYT article. I have been very impressed by the amount of knowledge on construction and build quality of various lines of clothing and shoes. I like classic styling in clothing, partly because I am cheap. I expect clothing to last for years and that is only possible with the best quality garments. I look forward to reading opinions and hopefully contribute something useful in my quest to get the best bang for my sartorial buck.
Why does this post keep on getting bumped up when nobody is responding to it anymore?
When someone responds to a poll it bumps the thread up. That's why you'll see threads that haven't had a response in a year at the top of the board occasionally.
I don't know about that, we just have different perspectives, that's all. And I'm willing to bet that about 80% of my posts fall under the category of "comments from the peanut gallery."
Are you trying to compete for the Isaac Asimov spot?
i did and it's the perfect time for me to discover you as i am trying to move one from streetwear to a more sophisticated look more fitting my age....
