What kind of polish do you guys use on your dark oak EG's? The brown Kiwi wax polish seems to match pretty closely, but I'm thinking that using a neutral might be safer . . .

Lincoln makes a "Dark Brown" polish that I think matches well.

I use brown Kiwi on mine (which is what they use at the factory, too), and the antiquing doesn't seem to be affected. Oddly, one shoe polishes more nicely to a mirror shine than the other.

dont use neutral on darker leather colors as it will leave a white residue that does not buff or clean off unless you strip it.
it also acts as a sort of cleansing solvent when applied ontop of shoe cream or other wax applications.
if you look at the neutral polish (particularly kiwi) the neutral is of a different consistency than regular other polishes; resembles something of a balm or surfboard wax.
i dont like it.

This happened to me once, thankfully only on a pair of Tod's loafers. It left a white residue that does not come off.

I believe the antiquing on EGs would be difficult to remove simply by using the wrong polish. It is ingrained in the leather, not just a colored surface on top.

Most of the time I use Kiwi or Alden dark brown polish or wax, but from time to time I'll use blue or burgundy red. Neither blue nor red makes any appreciable change in shoe color.

to add little to the antiquing onthe toe ,the sides and the back in small areas I used a small dab of black and the rest chocolate brown.

I always use some mid brown and add some bordeaux, navy, and dark brown as I see fit.

The colour looks richer and deeper to me.
