polishing brogue shoes

Any tips? Was thinking cue tips for getting the polish out of the brogue...ness?

I just make sure to use light coats of polish so it doesn't glob into the broguing. A good brushing should take care of the rest.

Also, use a small brush to get the polish into the holes, not the buffing brush, just a small applicator brush especially on black shoes to ge the dust out.

Do you guys use different brushes for different base colors? I assume yes. How about between contrasting shades of the same color? Say....antique brown..chesnut..chili etc.

Applying the polish sparingly with your finger is another way. Touch the flat areas quickly, then work your finger over the holes. There will be next to nothing that gets into the holes.
I find that a creme polish like KIWI dries far too quick so to give myself some play time,
I squeeze some leather lotion into the polish jar and work that lotion into the polish, creating a creamier mix, then apply to the shoes with a finger and let dry 1/2 hour, brush and buff.
If I want a higher shine I'll finger apply some wax polish to the toe cap , brush & buff later.

I have two brushes, one for browns and one for black.

Keep it simple:

Apply..... allow to dry.......... spit....... 'brush or buff like stink'........ smile, job done....have a drink

...... or do again if you are OCD
