Just use a square that you think will compliment what you are wearing. Buy a few, try different folds, and you`ll get the hang of it.

The first step is to forget about MATCHING the square color to anything you are wearing (shirt, tie, or whatever). Do you match your tie to your shirt or jacket? I doubt it, and the same applies to squares.

For Hermes style squares, I think the rolled folds work better. The worst is when they are folded over the top to create something similar to a TV fold.

There is a Hermes right across the street from my current client. So far, I've been successfully able to avoid it. Now I'll have to stop by tomorrow.

Match a secondary color (not the boldest) from the jacket/shirt/tie that's visible from a distance. Make sure that, from a distance, the square isn't the first thing people notice. Or go with white. Multi-colored pocket squares are trickier.
