Brown fresco suit. Blue and blue ginghamish shirt. Burgundy grenadine tie.

Linen pocket square: white with burgundy edging or blue with white edging? You decide.

I think I will agree with the others. There is so much color going on there that the subtlety of a solid white linen square would likely be the perfect complement. Between the two, though, the burgundy-edge is the closest to achieving this.

I don't understand. Ignoring the ****** glare of the ****** flash on my ****** camera, this is a dark suit and a dark tie. The only lively part is the shirt, but it is moderated by its sober neighbours. The overall effect is subdued in real life. Is it too matchy-matchy? There are other linen options, but I'm not sure if I can add them to the poll.

You are putting too much effort into this... & because of this it will come off wrong IMO

what ever you grab in the morning first is best & just fold & shove or puff & shove.. Nothing else & no more thinking, just use the FORCE!

YES! That said- that aqua-circle square looks nice in that mix.

Hmm... So you and Phat Guido are from the mystical/intuitive school of pattern-on-pattern dressing? I think I tend more towards the logical school. And I thought it would be fun to make a poll as I've never made one before. That being said, I think all four of the squares look good in real life and have no idea which one I'll pick. Maybe I'll see which one I can levitate easiest with my mind tomorrow morning.

Love pattern against pattern... and I'll in socks completely from left field as well.

The burgundy edged square is ok IMO, but all the other squares showed in your posts just don't work for me. You could try a darker paisley silk square with a burgundy background. This should work too.

As is usually the case with this sort of thing, your first instinct was best. Go with the burgundy tipped square, even if it is a little matchy.

I think the problem with this ensemble lies more with the shirt selection than the pocket square. In my opinion, that shirt does not go well with the suit and therefore no pocket square can acheive an elegant look.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
