The warm months are coming and I am thinking about linen. When wearing a linen sport coat, does your pocket square have to be linen? I have tried some silk ones and they just don't look right. Is that just me or is there a rule I don't know about.
Thanks!!!

I'd say cotton #1 choice and linen #2

Part of the answer lies in the shade of linen jacket. if it's a light shade of linen then a linen pocket square might work well but probably should be darker or more vivid that your standard pastel used for a dark wool suit. It could also be a starched cotton.

Sometimes linen and linen are too much and while a pocket square from ancient madder might be too dark and heavy a nice crepe de chine or thin shantung silk square could relieve the dryness and echo the shimmer of summer. Again a vivid color, maybe a not quite darkest color like a royal purple, a bottle green, a medium red. a royal blue.

I agree that cotton is good. White linen still goes with pretty much anything. The tie also matters. If you like to wear linen and linen-blend ties with linen suits, you should try silk squares, puff fold. I would definitely avoid linen-linen-linen.

No problem going with silk (cotton or linen are fine too). The silk square you paired probably just didn`t go so well.

A cotton square and a cotton tie are a nice match to a linen jacket.

+1 (or whatever the hell we're up to).

By the way Kent, when someone asked me about the yellow pocket square that you made, I responded, "Yeah, I have a guy in Austin who makes them for me..."

You're now my "Guy in Austin"
