i know that cuffs and no cuffs has been discussed at nauseaum. My problem is that a local tailor hemmed by pants way too short by mistake and my only hope to salvage the trousers is to go cuff-less with pleated trousers. Is this a faux pas ? Are my trousers ruined? Thanks.

Same as massive cuffs on plain front pants. I have a vintage suit that has double pleated pants and a plain bottom. I wear it all the time and I think its fine. If you like it just rock it. You'll just have to wear shoes so stunning that nobody notices your cufflessness.

Brit here (expat).

The only rule for cuffs is never on a dinner suit.

They are rare on flat fronts but some can make it work.

They are not obligatory on pleated fronts it's purely a personal choice.

Me? I never cuff and never will. The only exception is a narrow cuff on a pair of vintage 501s. These four inch cuffs on jeans looks absolutely pitiful to me.

Cuffs and pleats are independent of each other. Any combination of flat front or pleats and plain hem or cuffs is equally acceptable.

But how else would you wear raw denim before it's time to wash them?

Not sure where you get that view about the British. Not uncommon but not true to the extent you are tring to suggest.

No. Just wear the things and don't fret so.

I personally have a charcoal suit from Dior which has single pleated pants and no cuffs. And I love it!
