this is beyond my experience. I've had some dating back to the '50's, though they were past their prime (but not bad either). The eisweines appear to have more longevity on them, something like this.. In general, that store does pretty well with older wines but you might have to pay NYC prices. foodguy might have more experience with the older rieslings, my knowledge hits a cliff beyond $50 Spalese/Auslese

'86 Bordeaux opens up a huge amount of excellent choices. I am still waiting anxiously for the day when I can pop open an '86 (good year for me, too)

'86 Bordeaux are notoriously tough and taking forever. I like that.

We already have a Bordeaux now. Keep up, please.

For the '95 (or have we given up on that year?), I would get a Champagne. A white Burg that will still be good will really cost you. Think Montrachet (vineyard, not village) or Corton-Charlemagne from a top producer.

You think it would have to be Le Montrachet, or a PC would be OK. I

white burg, and never drink it. Maybe my favorite class of wines.

Not necessarily Le M. Batard or Chevalier. Both will be cheaper. Corton-Ch will be a relative bargain compared to all three. Unless it is Coche-Dury. But I doubt you could even find that.

I don't think Jay-Z was rapping about the yeasty and fragrant virtues of "Cris". Maybe, but unlikely. A shame, really, because Roederer makes some awesome wines. The 2002 I had not long ago was fantastic.

It's funny how many brands rappers have probably destroyed.

If by destroyed you mean "made known to millions of people who would have never heard of them otherwise" then maybe you're right.

I know. It's good stuff. My mother has a case of the '95 in her cellar. Maybe I should tell her to bring it over.
