Can't go wrong with a tan trench. I have a nice Margiela one in a 38 that I've been thinking about selling. Let me know if you're interested.

Have a look at J Simons in Russell Street by Covent Garden. They have a couple of very nice raincoats and may still have the Grenfell raincoats they had when I was last there.

I quite like Barbour coats. They have a classic double-breasted trench that looks quite nice.

Well, a lot of guys rave about Trojans, but I feel that Lifestyles are less prone to breakage. Make sure your not allergic to latex, btw, or else you have to go back to the old lambskin ones (ew). HTH. Btw, I would get a lot more than one -- you've got a whole month!

Oh, and if no one mentioned it yet, the tan Burberry trench is classic, though somewhat pricey.

Burberry - one of the things they still do well.

Valstar and Allegri are both excellent, mid-priced Italian options.

+ 1 for Allegri. I would buy this from yoox, it's a steal http://www.yoox.com/item/YOOX/ALLEGR...s/sr_salemen80 It's modern, maybe too short. Due to these forum, I bought 3 raincoats in the last 6 month. The most expensive was a new black, modern Allegri in a local shop. Very nice quality. I bought a classic/vintage Burberry that I will probably wear more often in 10 years from now (I m in my 30s). From this seller has sell them for about 100 GBP (se used to have many) http://clothes.shop.ebay.co.uk/items...=p3911.c0.m282 I bought also a SB Aquascutum navy knee length size. I think Aquascutum and Burberry are still excelent quality. I find them too formal (for my job) unfortunately. You can find plenty of Aquascutum and Burberry on ebay.co.uk

I just purchased a black Burberry trench that looks very similar to the Kingsgate @ $200 USD in an outlet. I don't know what model it is (and I have searched! most of the trenches look so similar) except the tag said something about Dermot and style or product number 1080426 and the original retail would have been $600 (in small print) and it was made in the US.
