or similar style that is waterproof/resistant. I want to move away from a classic trench. Barbour? This is to be worn business casual or with jeans. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Depends on budget really. Filson makes some nice wool coats, I have their Yukon wool weekender and it's well made and practical (not fully waterproof though). They also make waxed cotton (a la Barbour) - I'm not a fan of these as they just don't breathe.

Personally I like the tweed field coat. I have one from Laksen in Scottish tweed with gore-tex lining which works well. I also have one of their cordura/gore-tex field coats which isn't particularly stylish but is very tough, extremely practical (pockets everywhere) and weatherproof.

I think probably the nicest field coats are made by Chrysalis but they are fairly expensive (around £500 UK). Laksen is around £350-400. Filson wool (in dollars) is around $300.

Good luck!

Thank you. I am going to look at the filson model. I was also thinking a Barbour coat as well.

Can anyone recommend a car coat that is a little on the cheaper side, The above are over my budget. Maybe from a U.S. based retailer that I can combine with a sale or with coupons? This would be worn over a suit. Thanks.
