I'm looking to buy a nice Barba button down collar shirt from shop the finest, but am hesitant to pull the trigger because the listed collar point length of 4" seems very long to me (to be fair I don't own any nice BD collar shirts to compare to.) Can someone with experience comment on whether 4" really is longer than average, and if possible post some pics of what a 4" collar would look like in real life? Thanks in advance!

I will meaure my points on my PL button downs when I get home to give you an idea of what 4" would be like. I know the button down points are longer than my 3.25" points for spread collars.

IIRC Brooks Brothers is 3-3/8", long enough. A little makes a big difference (because it's not just the points, but the whole collar that has to stretch to get there). I suppose if you're 6'6" and weigh 300lbs you might give 4" a try, but it'll probably still look bad.

I measured my points and they are only 3.5", I cannot imagine that a 4" would look good. Just too long.

Longer points are more luxurious. 4" points are extra dandy. They could look great if you knew what you were doing as you wore them.

Longer points are also better on men with bigger heads. If your head is a little peanut you should get on your dandy some other way.

4" is too long and looks imbalanced and unharmonious, IMO.

My vintage BB OCBD from O'Connell's cam today- the points are indeed 3 1/8.

If you want to give a 4" point collar a try, check out DNA Groove. Remember, because of the roll, the collar won't look as long.

Yikes, 4'' points looks like the ivy that grows at Wrigley Field.
