i am trying to unlock a phone but have never done this before. i looked up the code on the internets and found this:

CODES:
#pw+857511475515734+1#
#pw+704120022251141+2#
#pw+495027214340641+3#
#pw+199504513755221+4#
#pw+335326757343240+5#
#pw+786130002471155+6#
#pw+308606025666522+7#
the catch is that on the screen where i enter the code, i am unable to enter letters. i tried the first code but it did not work and it may be because i end up with a 7 and 9 instead of the p and w. or does "pw" mean something else? does anyone here have experience with this?

thanks.

Shot in the dark here, but maybe "pw" stands for power? As in hold the power button?

I dunno, don't listen to me.

okay. i found this and got it to work;

You will see a message "Insert SIM Card". Enter all of the characters you see in your code, including the # symbols. To get a 'p' press * 3 times, to get a '+' press the * key 2 times, to get a 'w' press the * key 4 times. Disregard any spaces in the code.
thanks for nothing guys.

#pw is the Phone's "password" There are a bunch of different factory settings that the phone may have. Its usually 4 to 5 digits. I think the factory one is 0000 or 1234. It may also be the last 4 digits of your phone number. If you have the specific model of phone you can probably look it up. I think the progression may go 0000 to 1111 to 2222. There are a lot of possibilities.

I just called my service provider and told I was going to China and needed my phone unlocked. They sent me the code to do so within 24hrs...
