Please could you help me identify the maker of this suit.

It is a Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche suit, purchased from their Bond Street store in London last year, so it is AW07/08. It cost me £1,100 back then, so that might put a few of the makers out of the question. I have tried my best to identify using the thread above, but can't seem to get any luck.

Yup. 100% Zegna. They also make suits for Versace Collection. The VC suits are fused and not as good as the Zegna suits made in the Swiss and Italian Zegna factories that use that label. Just be aware that not all Zegna factory products are fully canvassed. It is worth it to do a feel or pinch test.

I've got several YSL RG jackets/items and they are Zegna. NOt sure if all would be canvassed, but they are definitely good quality... at least as good or better than similar offerings from Gucci. They also have some nifty little details like boutonniere holders behind the lapel and working button sleeves.

YSL tends to be towards the top of the Gucci Group brands, so in general they would be far above Z Zegna or diffusions (and, they should be considering they are probably 2.5x's the price). Nevertheless, keep in mind that overall they are going for a fit/aesthetic/design sensibility more than pleasing sartorial standards.

all of the gucci zegna suits I have seen (recently) have been fully canvased. Ive seen mostly fully canvassed and a couple of half canvassed suits from YSL within the past year. All nice fabrics, nice drape, worth buying on markdown.
