Please help me decide...

Guys,

What do you think of a white trenchcoat (waterproof)? I tried it on as a whim and it fits great, classic styling, and the price is very decent (under $200) for a purple label coat. However, it's white. I'm not worried about getting it dirty, but I'm more worried about coming across as a pompous ass, or something of the like.

I think it depends on your complexion and what you'll be wearing under it. London Fog has several new white models on their website. Maybe this is the new look for this season?

A London Fog trench coat is $1250??? When did that happen?

Judging from those pics on the London Fog site, I think pompous ass is right on the mark. And it would get dirty and look bad, too.

They've gone upscale fairly recently. Trying to shake the "your grandfather's raincoat" image, I suppose. I'm not convinced this is the way to do it. Who would pay $1250 for London Fog?

I have a Brooks one that's almost white. I say do it, if you can pull it off. It will make you look tan.

It can look really good - a slightly off-white might be a better choice.
