Please help criticise the fit (not colour) of my new black suit

I've just got a used suit from e-bay, and have a few fit concerns.

Firstly, the sleeves are a little too long, maybe just 1cm, probably more like 2. The sleeve is functional but not yet opened. Is there enough room to shorten them without major surgery?

Secondly, there's something funny with the shoulder padding. I have fairly normal shoulders - fairly narrow and a little but not very sloped. It seems like the shoulder pads are a little too large, leaving a straight drop from the pad to the actual top of my shoulder. Its most visible when I look at it straight on, I've not captured it too well, but think its clear. I've looked at other critiques of suits with this problem and opinion ranges from too big to too small. The jacket feels a good fit, not sagging or pulling anywhere, so I assume Its the shoulder pads or my shoulders causing the problem.

Any comments welcome!
Thanks.

Well, I'm going to the tailors on saturday to ask to shorten the arms by 1/2" - I think I can get away with this without major surgery?

I think I can live with the shoulder thing.

looks good from the front, the back, especially around your left shoulder looks messed up. someone with more knowledge can fill in the "why" part.

shorten no more than 1/2", the left looks a smidgen longer than the right.
you have a low right shoulder, see how the body breaks on the right side.
the collar stands away from the neck on the right.
by the way you should button the collar for critique.
smaller shoulder pads would make the situation worse.

they might have to adjust from the shoulders; judging from the measurement a 1/2" from the sleeve end will have the buttonholes too close to the edges (i like at 1 1/4")

Thanks for the insights! I'll get the sleeves done. I suppose I really need to be saving for a bespoke suit for the shoulders, though perhaps a padding insert could help. I've tried the jacket on again without a shirt and the collar fits the neck on both sides, so maybe my stance and collar position in that shot exacerbated the effect.
