1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

I promised the guy at KFAN I'd post this, so here it is. Please don't contact his superiors at Clear Channel and get him fired or have his chat shut down. I know the temptation may be great, especially for you lawyers who have that nice scary letterhead just waiting for a chance to use it. I contacted him, he dealt with it honorably; that can be the end of it.

I think this is quite funny...

One of the guys posted the following...

    STYLE FORUM GUYS = [IMG]

    YA gotta love jocks...

But whats interesting is that what happened with Mr. Kavanaugh and how he was judged by the forum here repeats itself with these jocks and us.

I can assure you it's officially done.

The fruitbasket thing was just a joke BTW. Kind of like how that dude posted the picture of Wiggum for our Webmaster.

BTW, I can also assure you that slim to none of us over there are "jocks"...Just sports fanatics. Not unlike yourselves with fashion, style, and the like.

Ha ha ha, what queers. Forum invasion is just the HEIGHT OF COMEDY. What the hell is KFAN anyways? And who uses the word "rube" anymore?

And can we mock and insult the people who did this, as long as we leave KFAN alone?

Edit: Hahahahaha their attempts at comedy disgust me, what kind of lame forum invasion is this

See, you can't really make fun of the invasion, since it was (cleverly, I might say)thwarted before it even began. It was originally supposed to happen tomorrow

And on a side note, you wouldn't get the whole "rube" thing unless you actually listened to the station.

I have listened to KFAN on occasion, cruising through CT. and the like, though apparently not enough to be hip to the "rube" thing. I think Mike Lupica, who does a sports thing on Don Imus' show, is a KFAN guy. Or at least he was, last time I was tuning into Imus regularly, which is at least 4-5 years ago.

On a side note re. the "Invasion", I was just about to post the following when the meltdown occurred:

It wasn't so long ago that the AA site got bombarded by a gang of cyber-thugs who were intent on being as invasive and disruptive as possible. I think one or two of them apologized eventually, after the drugs 'n' likker wore off, and they subsequently went away. I recall one of them posted a rather disturbing image that makes Ken's recent contribution in the Capt. Viagra (Â[IMG] FIHTies Productions) thread look tame in comparison.

These folks seem to be conducting themselves quite respectably, at least up to the point I've read.

Damn It AJL, if you are gonna quote me quote me right.

Its Captain V. (Did you notice how Ken just jumped right in with the name? I really think we have something there).

Captain V. obviates Viagra in fact, as you an tell from the Monologues, soon to be a major motion picture, "Captain V: The beginning" (Or the end, whichever). In the sequel Captain V battles the Evil V, Viagra his arch enemy.

    Stay tuned.

Last time I drove through the NY/NJ/CT area I think I was listening to KFAN. They were tearing their hair out over Herm Edwards' poor clock management skills. In any case, they should visit this site, which I think may be the best site on the entire WWW (no offense to Styleforum): Cold Hard Football Facts There they will learn the sad truth about the Jets and the awesome reality of New England's gridiron domination.

No, I can make fun of the invasion, because it sucked and it was stopped and didn't work, moron

And maybe J should preemptively ban your IP's just to prevent this from happening again.

And I don't listen to stateside radio because I don't live in the states, although I really can't say I'm missing out on much.

Edit: And actually I hope that other forum mod bans you too.

I just thought it wasn't very interesting. I'd have expected more fireworks from a good invasion.

Hey, that was a quirky little slip, Freudian or otherwise. I kept having this "Capt. Viagra" thing in my head, and I'd have to correct myself: It's Capt. Vasectomy, not Capt. Viagra... Oh well, I guess my subconcious won out this time, and I'm not even gonna edit it. And yes, I do think we've got something there (thanks for giving me partial credit [IMG] . Note: Mr. Dershowitz recommends I curb my normally acerbic tone, and remain on my best behavior until this intellectual property rights/ copyright issue is officially resolved) Darth Viagra vs. Captain Vasectomy in "Battlestar Prophylactica"...?

Unfortunately, the "invaders" are from what amounts to my backyard...they habituate a board run by a Minneapolis sports talk radio station, KFAN (not to be confused, as I'm afraid it already has by some of my esteemed SF members, with WFAN of New York). There are no personalities even remotely nearing Mike Lupica's stature on KFAN.

And they apparently believe they coined the term "rube", which makes me want to change my name. Please forgive me if I've brought this all upon us.

What will be next? Raining frogs, or flaming balls of ice?

It was a thread/threads on Andy's site initiated by the aforementioned goons. Doubtless they have all been removed. (The image in question was vile enough that merely the thought of describing it is repugnant. Most likely something from Rotten.com or similar purveyer of macabre filth/smut etc.)
