• CALLING ON HOME SEWERS TO HELP HEALTHCARE WORKERS FIGHTING COVID-19

The lack of proper masks, gowns, and eyewear equipment is making it difficult for health workers to do their work fighting the novel coronavirus. In a recent New York Times article, medical workers said they were worried about how they can both fight the coronavirus without imperiling themselves, as well as their loved ones when they go back home.

If you are a home sewer, please consider helping my joining Hickey Freman Technical Vice President Jeffery Diduch in his effort to produce and deliver homemade gowns and masks to medical professionals in the greater Rochester, New York Area. Read about how you can help here

Hello brethren,

I would be grateful if you could spot any improvements on my current fit.

My own comments:
1- shirt should be a little longer, so it doesn't bulge up so quickly.
2- shorten sleeves, don't know precisely how much, but about 1cm (0.4inch) I think.
3- shorten shoulder line with 0.5-1cm.
4- slimmer waist
5- higher collar, to hide longneck. I would add 1/3 of the current height.

I agree with a previous poster: Tighten the cuffs. To do this I suggest just adding an extra button that allows you to do that.

Second: Please iron your shirt!

I agree that taking pictures after ironing the shirt would let people give you more accurate critiques with less distractions.

Iron your shirt, choose a better tie, or skip the tie.

Skip the skin colored face cream its messing up your face.

I agree with all of the above except for the shoulder width. While this is largely a personal preference, I think it looks fine as is.

A higher collar would look better, as, I think a cutaway collar.

Why does the pant hang lower at the front as if you had a big stomach ?

Could be an issue with posture or belt/trouser fit as seen in Picture 4 (the profile). Also needs to be tapered down there to remove excess material.

+1 to tightening the cuffs

+1 to higher cutaway or spread collar

I agree with the collar = the neck is much too long, he needs to hide it

Pants are too large at the tights or too narrow under the kneees = it looks like a turkish traditional pants

Thanks guys. I really never thought about the sleeves. The collar I will look for higher with spread. That shirt had been worn a workday, and was wrinkle-free in the morning, hadn't given it thought.

About pants: don't know what's wrong with them. Perhaps a little bit too large as I've lost a little weight lately. But that shouldn't be a problem to adjust.

As you request - neither shirt (nor trousers) nor your body do each other any favours. As you can't easiliy change your body and some would say that over the top, ditch the other two and start again.

I don't like the shoulders. They're off, which is causing the sleeves to be too long... +1 spread collar And yeah... you could tighten the cuffs... But I'm more concerned with the length, and what I call 'baggage'. And your tie could be slightly longer too!

if the shirt were hung out we could see if it were too short.
a tight fit in the hips often causes the shirt to work up and out of the trousers.
no more than .5 cm narrower in the shoulders.
more slope in the shoulders.
yes take in the waist.
tighten the cuffs.
