Plastic frames are a huge problem for asian people because of our flat bridge. Over the years, I have come across so many great plastic frames that I loved that I just couldn't wear because the fit was wrong, but otherwise they looked so great. A few years ago, I went into San Francisco Optics on Chestnut, a nearby optician, and they apparently specialize in fitting plastic frames onto Asian faces. At first when I came in and they started styling me into some plastic frames, I thought that they have no idea what they are doing and told them that I can't wear plastic frames because of my nose. They then told me about how it's not a problem because they have a special method for putting nosepads onto plastic frames which fixes the problem. I gave it a try and finally picked out a plastic frame for myself and it turned out great. It looks natural and you would never guess that work was done to the original frame. Since then, my sister and I have picked up a few plastic frames to add to our eyewear wardrobe.

I'm not sure how many optical stores are able to do this, so if you can't find a local place that does, I want to recommend them to you because it has made a huge difference in my and my sister's life to be able to wear cooler plastic frames since we are so dependent on our eyeglasses. You shouldn't be restricted from wearing any plastic frames and they can make it happen. Their website is www.sfoptics.com. Enjoy.

Yeah, I had perm nosepads put onto my glasses. Its great, basically they sand off the nosepad on the plastic lens then superglue synthetic nosepads onto them.

I have this problem as well as my nose bridge is very small.

I goto a korean optometrist in garden grove who is able to install plastic pads screwed in with a small metal arm.

Both glasses are like this and is visually subtle and cleanly done.

sho'nuff, I saw your post regarding the optometrist in Garden Grove that can install the nose pads on plastic frames. Would you be able to give me the name and address of this optometrist?

I've got a pair of plastic frame sunglasses that I need to put nose pads on.

I am pretty sure those Japanese frames would have compensated for the flat nose problem, especially those for their domestic markets. It's the European brands that are usually the problem.

Some mainstream brands do have nosepad pre-installed on the frame; even Costco has one or two odd pair like that. But it's a bitch to find a frame that you like + fits + has nosepads Recently got mine in an Asian optical shop, but even there many of them don't have nosepads... [IMG] shitty pic, but you got the idea.....

gucci makes a couple of pairs of plastic glasses w/ nose pieces, or at least they did a year ago.

I have a pair of Gucci plastic glasses with nose pieces... but after 5 years the "G" fell off and now I need to get a new pair.

no problem, now all you need is for the "ucci" to fall off and you will have wearable glasses.
