Placket covers on dress shirts

Just bought a white french-cuffed YSL shirt. When I got home, I realized that it has a placket cover (i.e.,) the buttons are not visible because they are covered by fabric that goes over the placket).

Is this too odd for a business setting (forgetting for a moment that it'll be concealed by a tie much of the time anyway)? I don't think it looks bad, but I know that you tend to see this on tux shirts.

Personally, I'd find that very strange to see. Yes a tie hangs in the way sometimes, but if you're moving at all it'll expose you're wearing a very strange shirt.

i have a few of these shirts and they look fine with a suit. no better or worse than any other properly fitted, well matched shirt. most people do not notice and once they do, its followed by a "oh, thats neat, I didnt even notice"

Depends on your business setting, but a bit odd IMO. If you're wearing a tie though, most people won't notice, but then again, most may not even notice without a tie.

With a tie (and of course you can't wear a tie tack), it would be fine. My limited experience with them has been with cheap poly bargain basement shirts, and formal shirts, so i do not like them. But it is up to you. Live a little!

Comes from someone wearing short-sleeved tuxedo shirts.

You can wear the label on the outside. You know, in an explanatory capacity.

I have a white Zegna shirt with a covered placket and a cream Canali shirt with a covered placket. I wear the white one with a "modern looking" tuxedo and I wear the Canali one with a brown Canali suit to events that don't require a tux but are a little more dressy than a normal business suit.

I think yours can go well with a business suit if it is paired with a grey or navy suit. If you have flat front pants with tabs and don't wear a belt to pair along with that shirt it gives off a very modern look IMHO.

Seriously? A 'very strange' shirt?

This is a 'very strange' shirt. A fly front is a perfectly normal alternative to visible buttons.
