First, let's start off with some pictures from the evening of day 1. were I probably had one too many drinks, because I woke up missing the lenscap to my camera (here's hoping I wont scratch up the lens):
And then we're off to day 2. In short: Chaos.
By my layman's estimation there were at least 30% more people than day 1, and day 1 was busy. From the looks of it, it could just as well be a music festival. Bright colours everywhere. Everyone seems to be outside, i'm guessing it has something to do with the weather, the sun is out and it's warm, at least for a Swede like me. This is pretty close to what I'd call Swedish summer heat, still everyone's wearing casentino. Thick wintercoats in all colours of the Rainbow gather at the Pitti square, there's music blasting and people are generally in a good mood. It's easy to be cynical when looking at pictures of Pitti ("woe, the decline of classic menswear"), but when you're in the middle of it, it's hard not to be swept away by the vibes.
We look through a few booths in the main pavillion, but unfortunately I had missed to change the ISO on the camera, so we will try and get some better pictures today. Hence, only Street style pictures today as well.
The evening was spent in Stefano Bemer's workshop. It was full of the menswear famous people, interesting exhibitors and lots of Italian gluhwine. I tried listening to the different accessory maklers who spoke about their craft and products, but unfortunately the workshop is not an ideal venue for speakers, my hearing impairment didn't help either. So after politely trying to look like I heard anything for 15 minutes I quietly snuck out to look at their products instead. Erica and I talked with a lovely lady from Begg & Co who told us about their cashmere scarves and the production that's all taking place in Scotland. We also spoke to Aleks from the Rake Magazine who showed us some of the products they will be selling in their webshop, it was some collaborations with Rubinacci, Gaziano & Girling, Drakes and Albert Thurston. We also had the pleasure of meeting a lot of Styleforum posters, like Butler, the Shibumi guys, the Skoaktiebolaget crew, Mr Claymore, Shaya from Exquisite Trimmings and Kirby of the Hanger Project.
