This is my first post, welcome everyone !

I read the blog of one of the SF members, and stumbled upon this article:

http://lessgentlemen.com/2010/08/30/...te-radio-2009/

I watched the film - it is fantastic, really worth watching - great soundtrack, and acting is magnificent.

I especially like Bill Nighy's plaid suit, and what I suspect is a vintage military jacked - worn by "the coolest man on the planet" - Gavin Kavanagh.

Do you guys happen to know anything about the fabric used for this suit or the whereabouts of a shop that happens to sell these military jackets ?

Ah well, I might be able to help you there.

The cloth for the suit is the McDougall check by Dashing Tweeds http://www.dashingtweeds.co.uk/dt/about/

If you go to the "Blog" section of their website you'll see that a short bit about it with an extremely poor quality picture. They do a fairly limited range of ready to wear which may or may not include military jackets. Other than that you'll have to go to a tailor.

By strange coincidence I'll be wearing a suit in the same cloth for my wedding in a couple of months.

I may be a little late, but I just saw this movie on demand this weekend. I was very impressed by Bill Nighy's wardrobe and they way he dressed even though they were on a rusty, old fishing boat surronded by unwashed radio jocks. He was a true, dashing English gentleman.

The first thing that caught my eye was that tweed suit--awesome. I would love a sport jacket in the cloth.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
