First off, hello. I've poked around Ask Andy's for a while, through which I found out about this forum. You all seem to have a nice diversity of opinion about fashion, while still being united by appreciation of finery, quality, craftsmanship, and history.

Anyway, back on topic. I've been smoking cigars for a little while, but just recently began smoking an old Meerschcuam of my grandfather's. I've gone through (with some friends) two ounces of Dunhill No. 965, which I enjoyed enough to purchase another pouch of.

Does anyone else smoke in this manner and, more specifically, can anyone recommend to me another English blend similar to No. 965? (I was interested in Dunhill Nightcap, but regrettably my tobacconist didn't have it.)

Dunhill No. 965 is quite unique - I don't think you will find something similar. If I remember correctly it is mostly latakia - so you will want to explore more of the English tobacco's if that is to your taste.  I always enjoyed the Virginia' aromatics so I don't have much other advice.  Nice thing about English blends is they don't seem to burn as hot - no tongue burn.

Be on the lookout for mixes with some Perique - that is some exciting stuff, if you like the Dunhill 965.

If I smoke out of a pipe, there is typically no tobacco involved. [IMG] That said, I love your avatar. That is one of my favorite movies.

Brilliant film, isn't it? I have some friends who are always trying to use my pipes for a more... exotic purpose, but I have to explain to them that they're from my grandfather, dammit, and you're not smoking anything but tobacco in them ;D
