Ok. Here's my first newbie post. So go easy....
I am returning to work after being a stay at home dad for six years. I have a couple of interviews coming up and have a couple of questions regarding white dress shirts.

What is the best cloth for a dress shirt that has heft and weight to it. By that I do not want an oxford button down style shirt. I want somthing that feels luxurious, has weight, so it will absorb and not show sweat in hotter environs. I used to see the shirt that one could had a thick weave to them. Typically these were light blue or darker colors. I want something plain white. conservative. Charles Tyrwhitt has some nice stuff.

Is poplin really that light?
What about pinpoint?

Pinpoint is oxford cloth of a slightly tighter weave, and lighter in weight. It looks a bit more crisp and businesslke that oxford, but (to me) not much.

Poplin refers to any basic shirting. However, most people think of particularly tight, almost ribbed weave when they hear poplin. I think this is because they associate the term with suiting/trousering poplin.

Anyway, if you want something crisp and businessy, but with heft, try a twill (diagonal ribs).
