Some of the terminology can be confusing and not consistent.
Just looking it up some generic names are interchangeably used but it seems that Teju has a consistent species reference and location of sourcing.

For ring lizard, it is more varied, Here are we referring to the asian water monitor (ring lizard, rice lizard, among other names etc....)? The species being V. SALVATOR, usually sourced from Southeast Asia. Thats the one i have encountered the most in the past, but not sure if thats what Parker used.

In the pic below the card holder is V. Salvator (for sure, i have the CITES ppw). The billfold pattern seems similar to me but larger scale. The card holder has also had more use so it will look a little different.

I have seen the name "baby lizard" before also but not sure what is referring to. Couldnt find a source for the terminology

They're the same species, but the cardholder is just made from a smaller animal. The flank skin also makes up most of the surface area on the cardholder. I personally like the line of symmetry to run down the middle of my pieces, which requires a larger skin for panels as large as the exterior of a bifold. It's not in any way 'incorrect' to not put the line of symmetry in the center. It's just the way I was taught. Even non-exotic goatskins have an identifiable line of symmetry that runs down the center of the skin, (created by the spine of the animal) and I'll often put that in the center of larger projects too.

Baby lizard is almost always going to be ring lizard when you buy from those that make in a 'finer' style of craftsmanship. I personally find the pattern to be more symmetrical and pleasing. (Teju reminds me of my Grandpa's cowboy boots.)

The leathers are similar in overall character. Chevre Chagrin has a finer grain pattern, as it has been hand-boarded in a way that's so fine that it resembles the graining of a Stingray skin (Shagreen). Chagrin is a bit 'finer' feeling, and has less finishing on it.

Mysore is slightly more finished, and wears better. The skin has been hand-boarded in only two ways, which accentuates the skin's natural graining, and it looks a bit more casual.

Chagrin will stain a bit easier, and patina a little better. Mysore will look new longer. They're both amazing leathers, being both softer to the touch and stronger than the Taurillon (which I have to thin substantially) that I use in wallet-weight leather. The Taurillon can be left very thick, though, and when done so it is very durable and it works great for bags and larger accessories.

@ThinkDerm Here's a picture of Chèvre de Chagrin and Mysore side by side. Mysore is on the right. You should be able to see the slight 'sheen' that Mysore has. The chagrin is on the left. It is a little bit more matte. Similar colors picked to isolate the grain differences better.

If you look at the grain of the Chagrin, it is very even. In larger projects, the evenness of the grain creates a cool effect in sunlight as it will reflect the light in a very even way. I'll try to capture that with a project I'll be completing soon.

You should be able to see the longitudinal veining on the Mysore skin to the right. Also, you might notice that the grain is a bit 'deeper.' On larger projects, the veining looks very interesting.

Both Mysore and Chagrin are tanned in France, and are very consistent in color and quality. However, Mysore is less consistent in it's graining pattern, as it's more natural in character. Some Mysore is somewhat even (as shown below), some is a little more 'wildly' grained. There are slight variations depending on the part of the skin used as well.

Do the colors in Chagrin match Mysore: Dark Blue, Dark Green, Evergreen, Veridian Green (https://www.pierpontleather.com/pages/chevre-chagrin)?

I have a less formal belt on the calendar coming up, and I'll grab some photos. More formal belts look very similar to the straps I make for messenger bags (less the shoulder pad and snaps). Ideally, more formal belts wouldn't have the contrast stitching shown below, but it'd be the same 'shape.' This has a slightly raised, padded center, which is optional. I have access to standard black and brown D'Annonay box calf, but I haven't used any, or had requests for box calf belts yet. I bet they'd be handsome, though.

The finish is similar to Chagrin, so it's quite natural. It has a very defined spine and it is highly sought after as it's thick enough to be used in place of calfskin for bags, cases, and pouches. Like the other Chèvre skins mentioned, it is also vegetable tanned in France.
