birdman, you're stretching the definition too far. But, I can hardly object to a mention of empanadas. Mmmmmm. Empanadas.

Beer Pie

1 Basic 9" Pie Crust (unbaked)
12 ounces Beer, chilled (the darker and sweeter the better)
2 tbsp Butter
1 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup chopped pecans
3 eggs
1 egg white, beaten
Pecans for garnish

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Pour beer into a pan and heat on medium. Reduce to a syrup-ish consistency, then let it cool slightly.
Melt the butter in a separate pan.
Combine the reduced beer with the melted butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, flour, and chopped pecans with a wire whisk until thoroughly blended.
In a separate bowl, lightly beat the eggs then stir into a syrup mixture until blended.
Prick the pie crust with a fork and then brush lightly with egg white.
Pour the filling in to the crust, garnish with pecans and bake in the center of the oven for approximately 40 minutes or until a knife stuck in the center comes out clean.
Cool before serving.

Because I have integrity, I will acknowledge that I would prefer an egg pie to an egg cake.

However, you cannot claim pizza as part of the genus Pie.

Noun 1. pizza pie - Italian open pie made of thin bread dough spread with a spiced mixture of e.g. tomato sauce and cheese

In Byzantine Greek, the word was spelled πίτα, pita, or πίττα, pitta, meaning pie.

Pizza is a pie. A savory pie, perhaps, but a pie nontheless.

So a cracker with cheese on it is a pie, too? The definition you give betrays the reality: It's a flat bread with stuff on it.

And, cake is still winning...

A pie is pastry dough with stuff on it or enveloped inside of it. That covers both pizza and strawberry rhubarb.

I'm certain it's all the SW&D people voting for cake. You can see what kind of taste they have.

I forgot about the Luger's pecan pie with schlag when I cast my vote.

Now I'm going to have to go sign in as a sock to even it out.

I did a little quick research on the pie equivalent of Cake Farting but there is none, most likely because cake is so mundane that it warrants perversion whereas pies are culturally above such insults.
