Hi guys, I'm a longtime lurker, an Australian living in Europe.

As I'm considering a purchase from them, has anyone recently purchased from Hungant and can give feedback? What makes them rather confusing is that they've an array of outlets: an eBay shop, a new Etsy store and two websites; with slight variations in pricing for the same item. They even have an Amazon presence.

Specifically, I'm interested in hearing of experiences with requesting custom orders — e.g. quirks and silk linings; would you have had to email them beforehand? Did it add extra time to the order?

What feedback do you guys have on the quality of their leathers? I get that labour costs are lower in Romania, but some of their prices seem too good to be true for the type of leathers they offer.

I had a pair of Hungant dark brown deerskin gloves, rabbit fur-lined made right before this winter. I'm pleased with them, they look very nice and are quite warm (not enough for the coldest days in Montreal but great for most of the time). The finishing and particularly the sewing is definitely not as nice as my Hestra table-cut gloves but they cost a lot more. The leather seems to be of good quality. I had no issue ordering through their website. It was fairly quick and easy.

i usually wear shearling-lined nappa gloves from southcombe, a UK company that's long made under goverment contract. had them about six or seven years. never worked out why they miss the mark in keep cold and wind at bay. they go from being far too warm to useless + cold when weather gets frosty and windy.

i'd like something for autumn / spring wear. lots of great italian and french makers i've located, dozens that are long-standing 20th or 19th century companies, probably many using same workers in napoli that work from home on specialised aspects. locating stockists difficult, judging how to shift style of glove and get right size (southcombe are XL, which is about a 10) as i have big hands, long fingers. prefer seams in the inside.

prefer something known for warmth and that will last a long time. wondering if that's lamb, carpincho or peccary. don't like cashmere lining as i've seen it go thin on other peoples gloves. prefer silk, but also prone to disintegration in time from what i've known - that could be down to exposure to sunlight that causes that?

brexit has hit the fan, so ... anyone know good stockists with a range of italian and french makers? anyone yet clear on importing from europe with regards this £135 limit and who charges VAT where + if to expect to get hit? i asked merola's UK agent but they took me to be wholesale buying - seeing that they're 50 euros a pair if you buy 50, but £130+ too often if you just want one or two means i am not as interested now ... !

i can share what makers i spotted if anyone is interested.

So I've been saving up for a while now and now that its smack in the middle of winter here in Aus, I think its time for my first MTM pair of gloves. I know Hungant seem to be a reputable place however on their site they say they've not taking orders for at least a month, but I cam across a company called Paula Run Gloves and was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them?

I have used Paula Run for 5 or 6 pairs of peccary gloves. It’s the only place I have ordered peccary so I can’t comment on quality relative to other brands but the workmanship is excellent - have not had any gloves tear a seam in 5 plus years of winter use (I am in Canada).

I had both, the answer is no. Mostly because baby alpaca linings tends to be quite thin. The best I've found so far is rabbit fur for warmth.

I need to table my new glove wardrobe for this winter and take some photos - I just bought 7 new pairs of Hestra. Some of them are cashmere lined, but the warmest ones are lined with unspun, sheared wool. Among those new pairs, one is unlined and it is a size 8.5, whereas my normal Hestra size is 10 or 10.5 depending on the model. The unlined size 8.5 pair is model name "Henry" and I use them primarily for driving. Really surprising that with my XL-sized hands, I was able to get into a size 8.5.

Yes, unlined leather gloves with separately stitched thumb compartments can work this way. My usual problem with gloves is that when I spread my thumb and index finger apart from each other as far as I can, my purlicue raises so much that it splits the stitching around the thumb. That's the reason I need an 11 in some gloves, to keep them from coming unstitched in the crook of the thumb. Even with the lined Hestra, it's the same problem. Only the unlined ones with separately stitched thumb compartments stretch to fit all the way down into the crook of my thumb without splitting the stitching open.

I would probably do best to just buy bespoke gloves and the Sauso store is just a few kilometers away from where I live here in Helsinki - they will measure you right in the store and make any glove you ask them to.
