[IMG] Thanks to gshen, here is another CJ gloves, model is The Confidant. I ordered before 3 weeks and it's arrived today. They don't have the stock so it's made for the order. I wait for a week. I'm satisfied with the fitting(just send to them my hand circumference size 21cm) and quality. Total price is 39GBP.

Although I was born and raised in Italy, I must thank SF (it rules!) once again for letting me discover Italian craftsmen.
I was actually going to order CJs, but now I can buy gloves in person here in Italy.
Which ones would you suggest among Cilento, Merola and Madova that could go for my requests (good choice of colours, also non conventional ones; various styles, e.g. dress, driving and fingerless; possibility of customizing, e.g. contrasting colour stitching)?
Also, if anyone knows, are there any price differences among the three?

Thanks and please excuse my poor English!

They ran out of deerskin, huh? [IMG]

J/K - they look nice, and more importantly used and loved. [IMG]

I've got a deerskin in dark tan lined with black silk on the way from CJ. I'll post photos once they get here.

One can achieve a nice patina on deerskin (and probably other hides too) by rubbing the glove against one's nose.

I love those. Are they lined or unlined? And what's the official CJ color name that you ordered?

One last thing. How good is the cashmere lining on those? How soft and durable? Can anybody speak to what the silk-lined ones and their fit?

Here are my CJ's. I don't like the plastic button - might replace it with horn or Mother of Pearl.

    I think mine are:

They look like the Oxford, which is the model I have. How is the finger length on yours? Mine have settled but are still a little bit long.

Those look nice, Quede- I myself have decided not to order gloves online for now cause I want to try them on. I am of the opinion that they need to be a tad too tight at first cause they'll stretch and that's very hard to simulate by numbers/meassures alone...also other factors like smell etc are important to me and those cannot be tested online, yet, either...

Mine are 8.5". Close fit at first, but have loosened up. Possible to go down .5" for a really close fit. The leather (cape) is of course very soft and supple, so might struggle with a different sort of leather. If I get black (for the Jeremy Brett / SH look) I'll get a close fitting pair!

I remember that I liked some of your posts but don't think that we have chatted yet. Ignoring the time factor can be useful at times (e.g. mathematics, aspects of tradition) but don't put too much emphasis on what I said here or there several weeks ago unless I state otherwise. Wittgenstein also had made that mistake btw (namely to ignore the factor of change and mutation on a cosmic and ontological level) so you're in good company there, anyway. [IMG]

p.s. Habsburg [I know that in English 'Hapsburg' is also an acceptable spelling but 'Habsburg' is the more correct one. Have you read Huizinga's book on the late Burgundian court? I heard that it's quite good.].
