(click for big picture, btw the black one is actually dark navy it's just the photo lighting that makes it look black)

Hi, I've never worn a suit but found really good prices in thailand so made 3 of them.

However I'm not sure I like them, if I look at this picture in thumbnail it's like it's a picture of a suit but my face dissapears into the background. After realizing this I searched online and saw that many recommend for blondes to not have high contrast suits, for this exact reason, that it makes your face dull in comparison.

So now I'm thinking maybe I should ask the tailor to make me a suit like this instead:
700

That maybe I picked the wrong color suits, that I should have gone with something much lighter.

1) Should I get a Khaki instead?
2) Can I still use these suits?
3) Can I pimp them up somehow? Especially the red one I thought would be a cool special party suit if I really wanted to suit/douche-up for a party, but somehow with the white shirt it comes off as more uniform than party. kind of makes me feel like a flight attendant.
Also the bright blue one when I'm wearing my brown messenger bag I feel like a postman, but perhaps by pimping up the choice of shirt/tie I can change it?

Don't button the bottom button. Tie your ties a bit longer so there's not a gap between the waistband and the bottom of the tie. Avoid dress pants that sit that low on the waist and are that tight through the leg.

Don't go to that tailor again.

Welcome to the forum, MoY. We have a weekly thread for new members that would be great for questions like this http://www.styleforum.net/t/503831/...-questions-classic-menswear-wk-of-jul-13-2015.

If you ever want tailoring recommendations, you can check out this thread http://www.styleforum.net/t/265924/the-tailors-thread-fit-feedback-and-alteration-suggestions

If you want critique, that jacket is waaaay too short, the pants are sitting way too low, and they also look too long. I have no idea what your definition of "pimp" is. Where I'm from, pimps are the dudes that run tricks on the corner and look like clowns.

I rather start my own thread.

Jacket too short? Hmm I googled it now and it says "With your arms at your sides, your knuckles should be even with the bottom of your jacket." I just now attempted this test and it succeeded so I don't see what the problem is.

To pimp something up means to make something a little bit more extravagant.

Feel free to leave fitting critique (if it's indeed bad fitting then maybe I shouldn't use that tailor next time after all), altho mostly I'm more looking for advice about the style, as I'm no longer in Thailand so I can't go to other tailors but I can ask this one to send me by mail as they have my measurements.

Ah thanks I didn't know about the tie lenght. Maybe that's why everyone are saying the pants are sitting super low because they don't feel like they are sitting low to me actually so one theory is that the short tie makes them appear that way maybe.

No, those pants are sitting low, for a traditional suit. The fashion the last couple years has been to wear jeans and casual pants low on the waist, so you may be used to that.

The guy in your khaki suit picture is wearing a much longer, much looser coat with trousers that sit a few inches higher than yours.

Honestly, you're probably better off trying on suits at a place like SuitSupply rather than doing any more custom stuff until you know the specifics of what you want.

Oh no I wish that was the case, I'm a skinny 5"8 which means it's near impossible to find clothing that fits (apart from maybe America), now that I got my shirts customfitted I have to throw away every other shirt I own because they are all insanely too wide (I can fit 2 of me in every store bought shirt)

Burn the lot and then go to a bricks and mortar shop. Buy one you like that actually fits and try it for a few days rather than waste money until you have some more experience

Like I already said it's very difficult to find clothes off the rack when you're 56 kg (123.459 lbs). (apart from maybe America)

If I decide not to order by mail from this tailor then my only chance is to find a new tailor when I go to Hong Kong next month. but I think right now I'm much more interested in finding my style rather than nitpick about the exact fit.

Couple important questions: where are you located? This is important for brick & mortar recommendations. What are the suits for? Office, fun, etc?

I would skip khaki for now because it wouldn't work in many office settings. Try light to medium grey. For the off the rack, you look like you'd do well in a Ralph Lauren Black Label cut. It has that same vibe as the suits you had made--skinnier lapels, high gorge, and very tapered pants.

But this is a trend that is on its way out, so if you want to stay slightly ahead of the fashion curve, I'd go for high riser, wider lapel, classic gorge and buttoning point, and a longer jacket.

It's tough to tell the fit with your hands in your pockets, but right now I'd agree with what's been said: jacket seems too short, pants too long. If you could retake the photographs standing straight, with your arms flat by your side, it would be easier to tell.

The knuckle trick is a good starting point, but to get a pleasant balance, you'll have to take more into account: length of your torso, arms, legs, etc.

Right now I'd try on a bunch of different brands and cuts within the brand, just to see yourself in different things, and work on building your style from there.

Plenty of good tailors in HK, and even more really bad ones. I believe your friend @GBR may even be able to provide some recommendations.
Irrespective of what style you're after, if it doesn't fit well, it will look bad.

Chengdu, China. I'll spare you the details of why it's impossible to find clothing here.

However I'm sure my next destination of Hong Kong has store options, so I probably will actually go to all suit stores to try out huge amounts of clothes. However I think I will only do it as warm up before finding a tailor there, because even tho they might actually have clothing for my height I suspect they will all be too loose around my stomach but I will try.

Then I will go to Japan but I suspect it's much too expensive for me there. The suits I got in these pictures were all Cashmere/wool for 170 USD each. One day I probably will invest in a really really good suit and allow that one to be more expensive, but I first want to learn from getting comfortable with a few cheaper suits.

I'm not entirely sure what the suits are for, the reason I'm asking for advice is because I'm kind of trying to reinvent my wardrobe. I guess the only purpose that really matters is a suit for romantic dates (not 1st dates, but fancier later dates).

Regarding the jacket: There are competing rules:
(1) The jacket needs to fully cover you butt ---> Clearly not the case with your suits
(2) The jacket should end at the knuckles of your thumb if your arms hand down on the side ----> On your photos it is clear that even with you arms slightly bend the jacket ends at your wrists
The good news: Shoulders and collar actually seem to fit

The trousers look like skinny jeans .... and that is terrible for suit trousers: They are too tight, too low rise and on top of that they are too long (bunching at the bottom of the legs)

And then we gotta talk about the red suit: Unless you wanna participate in a David Lynch movie, run a drug operation or manage a strip club, you never ever wanna wear a red suit, understood? A suit is a traditional piece of clothing which comes in traditional colors (shades of navy/blue, shades of grey, shades of brown/khaki).

So if your goal is to look like a pimp: Congrats you achieved your goal!

If, however, you wanna see what a good fit is I recommend to look at those two tumblrs of a Hong Kong based top-notch tailor and a Hong Kong based clothier:

Not sure if you're already aware of it, but taking suit jackets in the waist is a pretty common and straightforward alteration; so many, if not most, will have it done after establishing a fit in the shoulders and chest.

I just point that out because, while you do look thin in your pics, you don't look so thin such that it would impossible to find a suit that fits you. In fact I would venture to guess that it should be pretty easy.
