Picked up some Japanese made suede chukkas in Tokyo

For those who haven't visited, the basement floor of the Isetan mall is unlike any men's shoe section I've ever seen. Shoe Appreciation dream. Anyhow, the yen is destroying the dollar right now, so I took the opportunity to pick up a cost conscious pair of Union Imperial Japanese made Chukkas with dainite soles. I was struck by their sleek appearance and thin sole despite the dainite, and after a brief break-in period, they are among my favorite shoes. For ~$450USD, I am quite pleased. I had never heard of this brand before, and I'm curious whether other folks have had good experiences with Union Imperial or other Japanese made shoes?

I had ordered a pair of boots from Trickers that were exclusive to Japanese market. I have no idea why Japanese styling seems to be much thinner/flatter than normal English, but I like it.

Good boots. Went over to Japan a few months ago. I think I saw a pair of these but they didn't end up having my size.

Beautiful, I find the silhouette attractive (maybe even elegant) without disregarding the spirit of the chukka.

Pics attached for those interested. Excuse their condition, as I beat on them this weekend and they need a good brushing. No flash used here, so they appear a bit darker than the first pics. Though these are a bit more true, the actual color is probably somewhere in between.

Yeah these are actually my first and only chukkas and they have quickly become my go-to shoes. I wear them to the office with slacks, as well as around town with a nice pair of denim. Will definitely be looking for another pair on my next trip to the fantasy land that is the Isetan men's shoe floor.
