The shoe in picture 19 looks perfectly proportioned where the one in 20 appears to be the snouty one made for the client. Does it explain what the shoe in 19 is?

No.19 is the JLP house sample model shoes (Elliot?), sewn using five pieces of leather (toe cap, vamp, lace, quarter, heel counter).

No.20 is the customer's shoes, sewn using two pieces of leather; one for toecap + vamp, one for lacing/quarter/heel counter.

I'm guessing the longer toe box stems from the customer's desires to have a square toe, and the physiology of his foot (slightly wider) is not conducive to that since it would squeeze the small toe. Hence, it was probably necessary to have the shoes made with an elongated toe box in order to accommodate the client's preferences. Don't think it was a mistake per se.

Was what the shoemaker at Cleverley told me when I inquired about they would make my shoes such that it accounts for my mildly wide fore foot (and slender heels), though it isn't all that difficult to figure out.
