Saw a link to these photos posted at Put This On. In addition to seeing some of today's stars when they were very young, the '80s are always interesting from a fashion/style standpoint - - not necessarily in a good way, but usually fun to see what the rich and famous were wearing back in the day

John Cleese's tux is amazing and timeless (probably by virtue of being the only one without a hideously overstated peak lapel). Second place to Bruce Willis.

Also? Jodie Foster was something else back then.

Tom Selleck looked great too. Classic style. Pretty sure he dresses exclusively in Ralph Lauren.

Though better than today's fare, a few too many notch lapels and, as mentioned, pre-tied bows. But, if you want true Oscar sartorial splendor, walk the main halls of the Biltmore in downtown LA. The hotel was the original site of the Oscars and there are photos of the first 20-25 years of the awards there. Back then gentlemen still new how to dress (and "gentleman" and "Hollywood" weren't mutually exclusive terms) and the awards were a white tie-optional affair.
