Anyone have any good recommendations? I've already been to a couple of places but was not in love with them. Do my style preferences matter?

I would avoid Joseph's on 20th and Sansom. Dunno how it got a "Best of Philly" recognition but they are very slow (I was told to come back in a week and when I did they told me come back in four more days) and the work is mediocre.

Good to know. What about this Henry Davidsen character for whom I see so much advertising? Master tailor and imagine consultant or something? Seems cheesy, but if the tailoring is good...

You could try DiTullio tailors in manayunk. Owner does good work but is lazy as hell. If you have a garment to pick up on Tuesday, you have to call once on Monday so he gets it out on the work table, and then again Tuesday morning so he starts working on it. Give him a few extra hours and it's done.

Can be a pain to deal with, especially when you show up during regular business hours and the place is randomly closed up, but hes one of the few guys I trust to work on a very expensive garment.

I dont know if he does alterations but for custom clothing check out John DiPierto in south philly. I've been working with him for a while now and hes really great to deal with. Centofanti in ardmore is supposedly good as well but I wasnt feeling his attitude when I inquired about having a SC made several years ago.

I've always heard good things about Centofanti.

Centofanti in Ardmore is the best... but very expensive and alterations take 2-4 weeks depending on the work.

Is he bespoke only or does he do alterations as well?

Any estimation on, for example, what it would cost to have chest and waist taken in and sleeves taken out on one jacket?

Around $200 maybe? I am looking for someone in the area to do similar work on about 6 different suits and would like to not break the bank. The guy in Manayunk sounds like a possibility.

I usually don't need the chest or shoulders changed at all, just waist suppression and sleeves shortened. Has cost around $150 to $180, but that includes working buttons on the sleeves.
