I just recently listened to a bunch of Tony Robbins CD's - the entire Get the Edge program... plus I'm applying for the MBA program at Arizona State University.

Is that what you meant?

Listen and take note of people and try to extract the best attributes from each. Also Do the harder things / make the harder choices, i find when i'm not in my comfort zone it brings out the fighting spirit.

For working on my communication skills. I videotape myself giving presentations. Then I identify my weak points or annoying habits and try to consciously eliminate them.

I have been doing this a few times a year for the last 5 years. It works well, I am a hell of a good communicator now.

Did you find that useful? Have you done any of his other programs before?

I know Tony Robbins gets made fun of a lot and I had not done any of his other programs before, although I had read his book, Unleash the Giant Within many years ago.

Some of the stuff was a little off the wall - he's a raw diet, vegan with some crazy ideas about nutrition, so I didn't find that CD to be all that interesting but I really felt that his mental stuff and general life-coaching strategies were actually quite well done and I am applying quite a bit of it to my life.

I used to see all his infomercials and I'd always been curious about his programs, so when I saw the program in a silent auction at a golf tournament last year, I bid and won - got it pretty cheap too - $75 for the whole thing.

Then again, I'll admit I like motivational and leadership stuff, so I tend to read a lot of stuff by John Maxwell, Tom Peters, Zig Ziglar and others.

Don't remember where I first heard it, but I try to live up to this:

"He changed by becoming more and more like he already was."

Luckily its not hard.
