People who hate Berluti

Hi, I am new in this forum.

I know some people really hate Berluti in this forum. I would like to find out why.

Is it because:
1. Berluti charges big premium for their shoes.
2. The leather quality (too thin and easy to creases).
3. The way of construction (Goodyear vs Blake)
4. Marketing gimmicks of the brand.

Are there other reasons??

... the designs, especially from their casual range. They have some nice designs from their city range and some wholecuts are nice; however, you would have to pay me to wear most of their shoes.

Some people find Lobb (St James) too conservative and boring, but I do not.

I love them, but I've never seen them older than the ones on the store shelf. For whatever reason, I always stop short of buying them, maybe because I know I can get much better shoes for much cheaper. By "better" I mean construction wise. I tell myself construction is not important to me, but it must be. I really like the look of a lot of Berluti's and one or two in a full collection are not going to see enough wear to ruin them. Berluti seconds are known to have the defect of lingering cat pee.

Most people don't like the fugazi patina. I like some of their bags and small leather goods. One or two of their shoes are pretty nice (like the Warhol loafer), but I wouldn't pay the premium for them, especially for that price you could get much better constructed shoes.

Trying to do too much to transform shoes to whatever it is. It's certainly not art. I'm not particularly fond of their Frankensteinish monstrocities (with the stitching, and a shape of a couple of their lasts). But the patinas are certainly wonderful.
