Pendleton Blazers?

I was looking into buying a blazer but then hopped on ebay and bought a Pendleton Navy blazer with gold buttons for about $40. It appears to be new, with the tag plastic still in (but no tag?).

How is the quality of these blazers? It fits me spot on.

The inside label says "Warranted to be Pendleton....woolen mills....Oregon" "Made in USA, Dry Clean"

If these things are crap, I will have to shop elsewhere. I made the quick purchase because I needed it immediately in the upcoming weeks.

Thanks!

It isn't up to the high-flying standards of the main denizens of the board, I'd imagine. Brooks and Polo are more what the standard is when they are slumming it.

On the other hand, if it fits you and you like it, $40 sounds like a good price. It is made in the US and that is worth something. Pendleton has been around forever.

It sounds like you made a nice pick up.

One problem with low-end tailored clothing is the lack of sizes. Paul Stuart offers sizes in one-inch increments from 36 to 50, and they have five length options (S, R, Semi-Tall, Tall, and Extra Tall). Pendleton probably made those blazers in S, M, and L.

The chance of getting a good fit increases when you have so many more sizing options. Most people in cheap tailored clothing do not get a good fit.

If the Pendleton blazer fits you well, that's half of what most people get for paying 5x more.

Pendleton is known for good fabric, too, so I doubt it's polyester.

Sounds like a good score for you.

While it is possible for the chest and shoulders to fit acceptably well, it is almost impossible for the sleeve length to be correct for you. It would be worth it to get that tailored so that it has a correct look. Price is certainly low enough to take a chance with it.

Pendelton wool is excellent. I have no experience with their blazers, and frankly didn't know they made them, but if it fits you and looks good then good on ya'.

I've handled some Pendleton. Some of it was very unstructured, in a semi-tailored style -- think casual coats that are more shirt jacket than sportcoat. Other stuff was dressier, though it I've seen was still pretty ... rustic, like the tailored clothing you see at Orvis. Fairly coarse cloth.

Overall, the tailored clothing items I've seen from Pendleton would not be SF-approved. But for $40, the OP isn't in it for much. And the "Made in the USA" label is nice.

Thanks guys, I had the sleeves lengthened by a tailor. The inside label also says it is made of 100% Virgin Wool.

I am also now looking at Brooks Brothers Blazers, I know to avoid the 346 line completely but what about the 1818 Line? Which of Brooks lines are Canvassed/Half-Canvassed?

You have been lucky if it fits. These really are not very good and I would not hurry back for more.
